2008-2009 DHC Online Application

To apply to DHC, please submit an online application by following the appropriate link below. Before you submit your application, carefully review the instructions so you are familiar with the information required. The application process for the 2008-2009 school year is now closed.

Application Instructions

Make sure you are submitting the correct application type.

Students who have been admitted to UC Davis for Fall 2008 and plan to submit or have submitted a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) should submit the application labeled “Regular Decision – Incoming Students” by 5 pm Friday, May 30, 2008.

Students who are currently enrolled in their first year at UC Davis should submit the application labeled “Current UCD Students” by 5 pm Friday, April 11, 2008.

Students who have been admitted to UC Davis for Fall 2008 and wish to know if they have been admitted to DHC prior to sending in the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) should submit the application labeled “Early Decision – Incoming Students” by 5 pm Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

Students who have been admitted to UC Davis for Fall 2008 as a transfer student should submit the application labeled "Transfer Students" by 5pm Friday, June 27, 2008.

The DHC online application has three parts. You will not be able to save your application and work on it later; please be prepared to complete the entire application before you begin.

Part One requests contact information. Complete all required information in this section. You will need your UC Davis Student ID Number and a current email address. You will be sent notification of your DHC application status at the email address you submit on your application. Please make sure the email address you submit is one you will check regularly.

Part Two is the essay portion. Write a short essay in response to each of the essay questions. Address each question as thoroughly as possible. You will be evaluated on originality and thoughtfulness of your response. Limit your responses to 300 words per essay. We strongly recommend that you first compose and edit your essays in a word processor and then copy and paste them into the application form, entering information as you would on a written application. The first three essays are required. The last essay is optional.
The essay questions are:
1. Given the objectives of the Davis Honors Challenge, how would your participation in the program enhance your undergraduate education and help you meet your personal goals?
2. What unique skills or characteristics would you bring to a group learning environment that would contribute to the experience of other students in the DHC program? Use specific examples.
3. Briefly describe two educational experiences and/or activities to which you made a significant commitment of time and effort. Explain how your participation in each has both impacted you and prepared you to be in the DHC.
4. What else would you like the DHC selection committee to know about you?

Part Three completes your application. You will be asked to agree to the following two statements and to submit an electronic signature certifying your application:
1. I have reviewed the Davis Honors Challenge course requirements. If selected, I agree to accept my place in the Davis Honors Challenge and to complete the required courses during the 2008-2009 academic year.
2. I am the author of the essays included in this application.
