DHC Student Leadership Positions Available for 2008-2009

DHC is currently recruiting for Student Leadership Positions with the following DHC programs:


Service Learning
Title:
DHC Service Learning Coordinator
Primary Job Responsibilities: Co-administer the Davis Honors Challenge Service Learning Program (SLP); facilitate students' learning experience through class sessions and assignments; develop community service opportunities for DHC students.

Work Hours: Approximately 4 hours/week in Fall, Winter and Spring quarters
# of Positions Available: one
Note: This is a volunteer position. Coordinators receive Internship Transcript Notation or 1 unit of HNR 198 (P/NP) each quarter.

Timeline:

  • Interviews & Selection: Late May/early June
  • You will receive an email if you are selected for an interview.
  • Training and preparation during late Spring and Summer 2008 will be required (based on selected candidates' schedules).

Understanding the Research University
Title: DHC Intern for Understanding the Research University Seminar
Primary Job Responsibilities: Support the instruction of the Fall 2008 Understanding the Research University seminar for first-year DHC students; facilitate students' learning experience through class presentations and small-group discussions; support students' transition to the university.

Work Hours: Approximately 5-6 hours/week in Fall quarter
# of Positions Available: One
Note: This is a volunteer position. The intern will receive Internship Transcript Notation or 1 unit of HNR 192 (P/NP).

Summer Orientation
Title:
DHC Summer Orientation Assistant, Student Assistant III
Primary Job Responsibilities: Assist Honors Counselors with DHC advising sessions during Summer Orientation; advise incoming DHC first-year students on DHC course selection and fall quarter schedule; contribute to other DHC projects as needed.

Work Hours: 4-8 hours/week, variable
Schedule: Tuesdays and Fridays, 7:45-11 am, from July 2-August 17, plus additional hours for training, staff meetings, and projects TBD.
