Fall
2008 Third-Year Toolbox
The Davis Honors Challenge
is proud to present an incredible course offered in the
fall for DHC Third-Year students.
Course Title: 'Building
A Professional Toolbox' Seminar
Instructor: Ann Orel
Days: Tuesdays
Time: 3:10-5:00 pm
Location: 565 Kerr
Units: This course is one unit, letter-graded.
This one-unit, letter graded (HNR 190X) course will provide
you with essential tools to enhance your Third-Year DHC
experience and provide you with a portfolio of real-world
skills that can be integrated into your everyday life. The
seminar will consist of a series of workshops provided by
professionals in various fields. Topics to be covered reflect
the objectives and expectations of the winter and spring
quarter team projects. The skills you will acquire in group
dynamics, effective communication (oral and written), interpersonal
communication skills, data collection and statistical analysis,
and leadership and diversity awareness in the work/academic
place can be applied directly in your interaction with project
sponsors, in establishing a constructive group dynamic and
in maximizing the efficiency of your team work, in production
of a professional document, and in conveying your team results
and recommendation to the group and your sponsors through
an oral presentation.
All DHC students who successfully complete
the 'Toolbox' seminar will receive a wavier for one of their
honors contract requirements. Successful completion of the
seminar entails attendance at all workshops, participation
in each workshop through discussion, and completion of short,
written assignments related to the workshop presentations.
