Incoming First-Year Students
All High School Seniors who have been accepted to and plan to attend UC Davis in Fall are invited to apply for admission to the Davis Honors Challenge (DHC). The Davis Honors Challenge differs from most honors programs in that it does not use high school GPA or SAT scores as criteria for admission. To be considered for regular decision admission to DHC, incoming first-year students must submit an on-line application by the deadline. DHC also offers an early decision application option. Prospective students are invited to attend a DHC information session in early Spring.
Course Requirements
During the first academic year, participants take two courses with separate DHC challenge sections and one problem-oriented multi-disciplinary seminar. These seminars are limited in size so that participants receive substantial individual attention from faculty and actively participate in analyzing complex, contemporary problems. First-Year Students must take two honors challenge sections or honors courses, and one honors seminar in order to complete DHC requirements. DHC students must earn a 3.25 UCD Cumulative GPA in order to receive transcript notation and remain in the program. Learn more about DHC courses and requirements.
