DHC Lab policy

The DHC Lab

Reserved for DHC students only, the DHC lab is located in 251 Kerr Hall and currently houses 6 workstations equipped with Microsoft Office programs. Two of the computers contain MATLAB software. The lab is also equipped with a scanner Effective September 1, 2009, the DHC will no longer provide printing services. Please visit http://clm.ucdavis.edu/rooms/ for a list of computer rooms and operating hours.

Entry to the lab is available through a swipe card system that requires a current UCD registration card coded especially for active DHC participants.

While there may be an occasional class, the lab is primarily open access with operation hours from 7:30-5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. DHC faculty may make reservations for DHC classes/seminars by sending a request with the class name, date and time to dhc@ucdavis.edu.

General Rules

The DHC lab is designed to be a useful environment for completing academic or University related work. Each person has a responsibility to use equipment for appropriate purposes and in a proper manner.

By using the lab each person agrees to abide by the following conditions:

  • Lab use by non-DHC students is prohibited.
  • Scheduled classes have priority over all other uses.
  • No food, drinks, smoking, or chewing tobacco allowed in the computer rooms.
  • Limit of one computer per person.
  • No loud group conversations or music (you must wear headphones).
  • Respectful language and behavior is expected.
  • No displaying of obscene or lewd images or text.
  • Leave all hardware and furniture in its original place. Modification of hardware and software configurations in the labs is prohibited.
  • Software license agreements and copyright laws are strictly enforced. Copying licensed software from the lab workstation hard disks or file servers is a violation of federal copyright laws and of University policy.
  • Clean up after yourself. Remove all personal belongings when you leave the lab.
  • Notify DHC staff of any problems or if you notice any violations of the rules.
